    Message from the President - A Positive Response to Negative Circumstances

    Friends,
    For forty-seven years, the Interior Design Society has provided support to professional interior designers nationwide. Now, perhaps more than ever, that support is paramount to the continued success of our businesses and our industry.
    Folks, we are entering new territory. Governor Inslee's stay-at-home order announced earlier today is an important step in the fight to curb the spread of COVID-19. The current pandemic will cause long lasting effects across our industry as well as many other industries in our region and the world at large. We will meet and overcome these challenges the best way we know how, as a community - together.
    Your Seattle Executive Board has been working behind the scenes to develop alternate ways to continue our mission of inclusion, community, fostering business and creating a sense of community among designers and industry partners. This mission will continue. We may not be able to gather together in person, but it does not mean we cannot continue to support and lift each other up through these current events.
    In light of shelter in place orders, our Chapter will move toward an online existence. More details will be forthcoming over the following weeks as new content is rolled out. To kick off our new temporary way of life, we'd like to announce our weekly online happy hours beginning this Saturday, March 28 at 10:00 am. Join us for Breakfast with the Board! Grab your favorite breakfast and join us for an online breakfast happy hour. We will be rotating week to week between Breakfast with the Board and a typical weekday evening Happy Hour so stay tuned for more information on the next Happy Hour event.
    We are also pleased to announce that we will be rolling out an online version of our Designer Round Tables. Our next monthly Chapter meeting will still take place on April 20th. We will update you soon on the change of topic. The Bauformat event will be postponed until later this year when we can all gather together again. Finally, keep an eye out for fun new social media content to help you weather the day-to-day.
    Friends, we're here to support you. None of us have all the answers, but we all have a unique perspective. We'll be talking with you about how you are adjusting your business and your personal life to navigate our temporary new normal. All of us have something to offer that might help our fellow designers. We encourage you to reach out to us on social media for support or just to share a laugh. We hope our social media content roll-out will be an engaging way to cope with the changes in our industry. We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming online events. New events will be posted on our site, please register in advance so you're sure to receive your invite to our online forum.
